My name is Fr. Andrew Kowalczyk, and I am the Pastor of St. Clare Parish and a member of the Congregation of St. Michael the Archangel – the Michaelite Fathers.
We are delighted to have you visit our website. Here you will explore vibrant spirit of the parish and all of the opportunities for spiritual growth and education that St. Clare Parish and School have to offer you and your children.
Located at the corner of Mack Avenue at Whittier / Outer Drive, St. Clare is a modest-sized parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit, founded by the Order of St. Augustine. Many Augustinians and Dominican Sisters served, and ministered in the parish and in the school, from its beginning in 1926 until 2012 – some 86 years of service.
In August, 2012, the direction of the parish was given to the Michaelite Fathers as their first parish in the United States. We are excited to share with you the wonderful things that are happening here, and we hope that you will decide that St. Clare of Montefalco Parish is the right community for your family.
Here at St. Clare we have a big church with beautiful stained glass windows and murals in the sanctuary that tell the story of our Lord Jesus Christ; the story of Creation, Redemption and Salvation. It is a big church. God uses this big church to touch the hearts of his people with music and word, a warm and welcoming environment and a vibrant religious experience.
This parish occupies a special place in the life of the community because here we come to celebrate our faith, to connect with God. Here the parish comes to deepen and strengthen our commitment to follow Jesus. We do that through prayer, adoration, study, music, and above all through the breaking of the bread at the Eucharistic table.
St. Clare is also a great place to connect with other people. We provide compassionate community outreach. Several times a year we gather for social events. Other programs gather the young and adults who take God’s Word and sacraments and share faith together.
Our elementary school has a very strong athletics program and offers a Catholic education to students from Nursery School through 8th Grade. Religious Education programs are available for children of all ages.
As a Catholic Community, we strive to encourage an environment where we can live as Christ did, worship together, serve others, and grow as a community of faith. All of our activities and ministries are designed to promote the building up of the Body of Christ in our midst. Your presence and participation, through ministry service, membership on commissions, committees, or groups, or at school functions are an important element of our growth, as together we share our gifts and talents with one another for the good of all.
I look forward to getting to know you personally in the weeks and months ahead. If you do not currently have a spiritual home, we invite you to join us in an ongoing way.
I hope and pray that God will speak to you and encourage you to open your life to him. May God bless you and your family.
