We
continue the St. Clare Book Club with another book,
which will lead us to an evening of discussion and
dialogue. St. Clare Book Club has been formed for
those that are looking for an open discuss on
Justice Issues. All who attended agreed that the
club gives them much food for thought.
The next meeting will
discuss the book “The Sinister Pig” by Tony
Hillerman. With his usual up-front approach to
issues concerning Native Americans ... Hillerman
delivers a masterful tale that both entertains and
educates. Usually, the titles of Hillerman's work
tie in with Navajo lore. The term Sinister Pig
comes from a French phrase "cochon sinistre". It
refers to the biggest, meanest pig in the lot who
eats everything he can possibly hold and then
refuses to let any of the other pigs have anything
to eat. After reading the novel, it is obvious why
Hillerman chose such an apt phrase for his title.
