Ongoing Service Projects:

Lenten Lunch Program
St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen – Serving Others and Feeding the Hungry

St. Clare Parish and the Christian Service Commission continue its proud tradition of cooking, delivering, preparing and servicing hot meals on Mondays during Lent.  From lasagna to meat loaf and bananas to oranges we gather and collect large quantities of food each week and bring it to St. Leo’s and serve it.

There are many ways to help and we count on so many of our loyal parishioners to make this project a success.  We are very proud of our relationship with Joe and his hard working kitchen staff.  Please look for the sign up boards in the church a few weeks before Lent.  It is a wonderful way to get involved in the parish and provide much needed assistance to the community around us.  Thank You to all the St. Clare families for all your contributions!

Warm Hands, Warm Hearts

We continue the tradition of providing support to area warming centers by providing hand warmers and monetary donations.  St. Al’s in downtown Detroit is most grateful for the warmers which they provide to their guests as part of an overall package of support as they encourage, counsel and guide guests at their warming center each day.  Thanks to the generosity of St. Clare parish we are able to support this effort each year from our Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Collection in late January.

The Christian Service Commission meets the first Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Whittier Room.

The Christian Service Commission exists as a model and resource of Catholic Social Teaching to enable the entire parish communion to put the social teaching of the Church into action.

The Commission empowers the members of the parish to fulfill the Church's mission of love, justice, freedom and peace by communally responding, in an organized way, to societal and individual needs.

The Commission creates and/or promotes programs which strive to address human needs and achieve justice whether locally or in the broader communities of Vicariate, Archdiocese, State, Nation and World.
